Teaching Day

On 15 June 2026, the Day of Teaching took place under the theme “Mindful Campus”, focusing on creating health-promoting and effective learning environments. Following the opening remarks by Vice President for Education, Prof Dr Julia Gillen, Prof Dr Sonia Lippke (HAW Hamburg) delivered a keynote on mental health and sustainable teaching.

An interdisciplinary panel then discussed these topics in a fishbowl session, actively involving the audience and addressing aspects relevant to Leibniz University Hannover. The first part of the event concluded with a “moving break”, featuring a series of activating exercises.

Both the keynote and the fishbowl discussion provided interesting insights into the connections between student mental health, social connectedness and democratic participation in higher education. Many attendees appreciated the open and integrative atmosphere, which inspired further reflection on how to create supportive campus environments.

In the afternoon, a networking café and poster session provided opportunities for exchange and offered insights into innovative teaching projects. Many participants made use of the networking café to connect with colleagues and engage in lively discussions. The highlight was the Teaching Award ceremony, honouring six lecturers in three categories. The event concluded with a reception and further networking.
