Leibniz University encourages applications from and appointments of university lecturers by actively supporting their partners in professional reorientation in Hanover and the region. Services for dual-career couples are offered by the Hannover Science Initiative’s career network whose coordination centre is located at Leibniz University Hannover.

The Family Service advises Leibniz University employees on on the topic of reconciling work and family life (via career planning, coaching/upskilling programmes, contemporary working time models etc.). In particular, newly appointed professors receive information on childcare and school services.

In order to welcome newly appointed professors, the university provides a structured programme to help them settle in. During their first 100 days at Leibniz University in particular, newly appointed professors have a central contact person from the university’s management team to answer any questions they may have.

The Welcome Centre at Leibniz University Hannover’s International Office supports new international professors and their families in all organisational matters associated relating to arriving and living in Hanover.

To strengthening professors for current and future situations in professional situations, the Human Resources Development programmes promote cross-disciplinary and job-related skills. Examples include internal upskilling and coaching programmes in areas such as teaching skills, leadership skills, administrative management and personal skills.
