Junior Reseachers

Leibniz University Hannover wants to support and promote young scientists in all phases of their careers, from their doctorates and postdoctoral studies to their habilitation or tenure-track professorship in a structured and advisory manner.

With the adoption of a personnel development concept, which provides a reference and orientation framework for the qualification and development of Leibniz University Hannover researchers, various funding and career models have been developed for different academic careers. The Leibniz Talent Development System as part of the personnel development concept will focus on young researchers from doctorate to appointment. The great success in applying for tenure-track professorships within the framework of the Tenure-Track-Programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research enables Leibniz University Hannover to shape a cultural change with its LEAP (Leibniz Academic Pathways) concept. In order to further recruit and retain excellent junior research group leaders the option of a tenure-track professorship is to be offered to them.

In addition to support through its own tailor-made programmes, the awarding of university prizes and targeted nominations for externally awarded scientific prizes are important components of Leibniz Universität's promotion of young researchers.
