Pre-study internship in the vocational subject (recommended).
Stay abroad possible, but not obligatory.
Computer Science is offered as a teaching subject (or supplementary teaching subject) within the bachelor's programme Technical Education. As first subject, a vocational subject must be studied. Please note the subject combination options.
In the teaching subject computer science, students develop both knowledge of the discipline and subject-specific teaching skills.
In the subject-specific area, apart from mathematical principles, students focus on computer systems, data structures, algorithms, programming, and IT security. Additionally they consider the general structure of digital systems and carry out an IT project.
The teaching methodology area is largely geared towards later activity as a teacher. After being introduced to necessary teaching methodology principles, students plan teaching units and draw up their first lesson plan. In a project which includes the subject-specific internship, they work in groups to plan a teaching unit, carry it out and reflect on their first teaching experiences.
Within the degree course, students absolve the following compulsory subject-specific modules:
In addition, the following teaching methodology modules must be taken:
Apart from the necessary skills for all teaching activities (e.g. interest in imparting knowledge, enthusiasm for learning, ability to cope with pressure, patience, empathy etc), crucial requirements for computer science are in particular a good imagination and capacity for abstraction, an interest in mathematical, technical and IT problems and the ability to think in a logical way.
Under certain conditions, admission to the following Master''s programme is also possible. More detailed information can be found in the respective admission regulations. If you have any questions, please contact the course advice of the desired Master''s programme:
