North America and Oceania

North America captivates residents and visitors with its vast, impressive natural scenery. Whether desert, forest, mountains or sea - this continent offers everything in numerous spectacular national parks. The inhabitants of these landscapes have equally diverse lifestyles, which is reflected not least in the languages spoken. English, French, Spanish, not to mention the languages of all the diasporas from around the world that have settled here over the centuries, are part of everyday life and culture. This region is also home to excellent universities that offer a wide variety of courses and degree programs. Partner universities and/or ISEP programs could be your ticket to the continent of contrasts.

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you’ll be able to see farther.

Countries

The following links provide all information on our partner universities in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, as well as on spending time abroad within the framework of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP).

Options

Partner Universities

At Leibniz Universität Hannover's U.S. partner universities, there is the possibility of study, research and practical stays of varying duration. Possibilities include, one-semester study stays (tuition-free), summer school programs, research stays of at least four weeks duration for the preparation of a student research project or thesis, internships in institutes and research facilities, language assistance and doctoral studies are possible.

You can find all information about the partner universities in the respective countries on our country pages (e.g. USA).

ISEP

LUH is a member of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), a consortium of more than 200 universities worldwide. Through this consortium, LUH students can spend a tuition-free semester abroad at one of more than 140 universities in North America or Oceania. The program is open to students from all bachelor's and master's programs at Leibniz Universität Hannover.

Freemover

As a "Freemover" you organize your stay abroad outside of an exchange program. Here you have a very wide choice of universities but since there is no exchange contract with LUH, you have to pay the tuition fees. You can apply directly to foreign universities or through an organization such as World of Students, GoStralia-GoAmerica, International Education Centre, and College Contact.

Internship abroad

In addition, there is the possibility to do an internship abroad in the USA. For information on this, please make an advising appointment with Mr. Stephen Sechrist. Undergraduate or graduate teaching students can do a teaching internship at a university in the U.S. through the Foreign Language Assistance Program of the Fulbright Commission.
