Research Assistant (m/f/d)

(Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 100%)

The Institute of Automatic Control invites applications for the position as Research Assistant (m/f/d) (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 100%) starting 01.12.2019. The position is initially limited to 3 years and includes the opportunity of graduating with a doctoral degree.

Responsibilities and duties

The scope of work includes research activities in the area of economic model predictive control for uncertain systems. In particular, robust and stochastic MPC schemes shall be developed for which desired closed-loop guarantees can be given. Also, adaptive and learning-based approaches shall be investigated. The project will focus on the development of novel control-theoretic methods which are of relevance in various cutting-edge applications such as robotics, power systems, or autonomous driving.
Participation in teaching activities is also expected.

Employment conditions

You have a graduation degree in an engineering universitary course of study (Diploma or Master) with a main focus on automatic control theory. In addition, the following qualifications are desirable:

  • Innovative and creative thinking
  • Willingness to get used to new research topics
  • High Motivation and the ability to work independently and on your own responsibility
  • Willingness to supervise students and to participate in teaching activities
  • Good command in English, spoken and written

Part-time employment can be arranged on request, as long as the offered workplace is covered in full extend.
