University Professorship of Salary Scale W2 NBesO with Tenure Track leading to a W2 NBesO in Research in Teaching and Learning in Extracurricular Learning Environments

The Institute of Education invites applications for a University Professorship of Salary Scale W2 NBesO with Tenure Track leading to a W2 NBesO in Research in Teaching and Learning in Extracurricular Learning Environments to be appointed at the earliest possible date. The initial appointment will be for 5 years. After positive evaluation the candidate will receive a tenured professorship.

The job announcement is part of the Joint Federal Government-Länder Tenure-Track Programme to promote junior researchers. It is aimed at young researchers with outstanding potential for a successful academic career.

The successful candidate is expected to represent the area of “teaching and learning in extracurricular learning environments” in research and university teaching. Additionally, the position would include overseeing the K-12 research centre for school students “Leibniz4School”, as well as contributing to its conceptual development. The successful candidate should therefore demonstrate a willingness and capability to realise innovative inter- and cross-disciplinary cooperation within the university as well as between university, school and the greater community.

Teaching duties comprise teacher education at bachelor's and master's level. The university expects the successful candidate to demonstrate an appropriate experience profile in teaching and learning research.

In addition, experience working with schools and other learning environments, as well as a readiness to work across disciplines at the university is desired. On account of Leibniz4School's focus on STEM subjects, experience in these areas would be particularly advantageous.

The successful candidate will be expected to hold selected courses in English.

General responsibilities and conditions of appointment apply, in accordance with the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz - NHG).

Part-time employment can be arranged upon request.

As an equal opportunities employer, Leibniz University Hannover has set itself the strategic aim of significantly increasing the proportion of women. Female scientists are therefore particularly encouraged to apply. Applications from abroad are especially welcome. Preference will be given to equally qualified candidates with disabilities.

In its mission statement, Leibniz University Hannover attaches great importance to the international orientation of teaching and research. At the same time, it places significant value on the intensive guidance and support of its students and on the university’s close ties to the region and to Lower Saxony. Its professors are thus expected to be based in the Hannover Region.
